“Tinker, Tailor” opening Stockholm – AWARDS ALLEY

By Sean O’Connell Hollywoodnews.com: Tomas Alfredson’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” has been making the festival rounds overseas. Since world premiering at September’s Venice Film Festival, the adaptation of John Le Carre’s suspenseful novel opened the Ghent Film Festival in Belgium on Oct. 11, and is preparing to open the 22ndn Stockholm Film Festival on Nov. 9, THR reports. Alfredson’s film, his follow-up to the acclaimed “Let the Right One In,” stars Gary Oldman as a former spy asked to help smoke out a mole in MI6. The stellar cast includes Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Mark Strong and Benedict Cumberbatch. “Spy” has been doing fine numbers overseas, amassing $17 million to date. Focus Features plans to open the film in the States on Dec. 9, with a strong push for Oscar consideration as the year concludes.
